For further information, please visit www.wccs2014.org
Dear Skin Cancer Specialist,
From September 3rd to 6th 2014, usaully a great time of the year, the 15th World Congress on Cancers of the Skin (WCCS 2014) will take place in the UK in historic and picturesque Edinburgh, capital of Scotland. This famous city is the home of a landmark castle on a cliff top, of the British royal family’s former Royal Yacht Britannia, and of many architecturally beautiful buildings. In addition Edinburgh is the gateway to a host of world-renowned golf courses and major scenic attractions.
However, Scotland too is a country where skin cancer rates, in a fair-skinned population accustomed to sunny holidays and often ill-advised sunbed use, are of major concern. The 15th WCCS will appropriately consider all aspects of this subject, from the clinical, histological and genetic nature of these cancers, to how best to prevent and treat them. Addressing this major issue will be a superior faculty of speakers drawn from all of the UK, continental Europe, the USA, Canada, Africa, South America, Asia, Australia and New Zealand, clearly demonstrating the thoroughly global importance of the topic. The venue for this signal event will be the superbly suitable Edinburgh International Congress Centre (EICC) situated in the city centre. Social events in equally excellent settings will accompany the congress, as will a host of tours to suit both sightseer and sportsman.
Given the major worldwide importance in incidence, morbidity, mortality and cost to society of skin cancer, this conference will attract a very large number of delegates from all over the globe, and we invite you to join them. Please do indicate your preliminary interest by sending your details to wccs2014@bad.org.uk, though this will of course not commit you further. Updates on the Congress will also be available on this website. I do hope we shall see you at the meeting for a major academic, social and sightseeing event. Very best wishes.
Professor John Hawk Congress President, Professor Alex Anstey Secretary General, Dr Perry Robins Honorary Congress President
